Winter Weather Update from Highland Village 2/18

Warmer weather is on the horizon, but until then here are a few things you need to know:

NO Boil Water Notice – You may have heard of other cities in the area issuing a boil water notice. There is NO boil water notice in effect in Highland Village. The City’s potable water system is functioning and operating in a normal capacity.

CoServ Update – The Electric Reliability Council of Texas stopped calling for load shed Thursday, meaning CoServ and other utilities can stop rotating outages for the time being. The State remains in an Energy Emergency Alert 3, the highest level of alert, so ERCOT could call for rotating outages again to maintain grid stability as the state recovers from this winter weather event. Visit the CoServ website for more information and how to report an outage.

Garbage and Recycling Service – Community Waste Disposal has cancelled service for the remainder of this week. Trash and recycling service in Highland Village will resume on Monday, February 22 on your normal collection day. CWD will pickup three additional bags that should be set next to your full cart. Trash will be picked up first and recycling may be picked up on a separate day. Please leave your carts at the curb until service is provided. Stay up to date at the CWD Service Alerts page.

Water Leaks – If you have a water leak or a frozen pipe bursts, contact the City utility department at 972-317-2989 Mon.-Fri. between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and after hours call the police non-emergency number.

Highland Village Roadways – The sun came out today and has melted some of the snow and ice, however the forecast shows temperatures dropping to below freezing during the overnight hours this evening. This will lead to re-freezing of any slush, snow, or ice on the roadways. Highland Village street crews will continue to work their Mitigation and Emergency Response plans to address the major thoroughfares in the City. The City does not have the resources to plow and sand all of the residential streets so please use caution if you have to be on the roadways.

Notifications from the City – If you have not signed up for the City’s notifications, now would be a good time to do that. Sign up at our Stay Notified link.

Please share this information with your friends and neighbors. Thank you for your patience and care during this winter weather event.
